mec train on commercial st

photo showing long-90 to 100 car train on commercial st in portland. Unusual route for this train was caused by derailment on main lines outside of portland. It would pass over the grand trunk and get back onto mec trackage at either yarmouth or danville jct. power was (if I recall correctly) abba f units. It traveled very slowly and tied up commercial street for quite some time. Several people ducked under the moving cars to cross the street! Poor quality of image is as a result of this being a copy of a slide.

Photographed by C.thomas, December, 1973.
Added to the photo archive by Jack Thomas, December 8, 2005.
Railroad: Portland Terminal.
