I've been waiting to tell this one...the Heat is ON...

Ok Railfans, this shot shows the new City Of Augusta, Me. parking garage with the rail signal in the forground. If you remember the story a few short years ago the City said that "after the new parking garage was built there would be no reason to keep the railroad covered up in dirt. Well if you come to Augusta you will see that the rails are still covered in dirt and there are numerous steel guardrails that block cars from driving onto the railroad. Thie stretch of rail that is covered runs from under the Water Street bridge crossing, Winthrop street then Bridge street and then the gravel stops just before the bridge crosses Water street again. So much for promises right? Just hope that someday a train will travel this line again..wouldn't this picture look better with the signals flashing and the Amtrak Downeaster crusing by? I talked to a former Mayor of the City Of Augusta and he said he would love to see the train again and he gave some ideas how to do it! Well what's the big deal...it must be $$$ Oh No.....35 mm.
