Russell's Roundhouse

E&N/CPR Roundhouse in Victoria, BC. Hard to believe this used to be the maintenace base for all the locomotives used on the E&N. Use of the Victoria shops declined after the Wellcox yard and shops were opened in Nanaimo in 1955. In 1986 CP moved the maintenace base for all locomotives used on the E&N to Coquitlam on the mainland, the Wellcox shops were used just to service the locomotives, when major repairs were needed, the locomotives were sent to Coquitlam. In 1986, the Victoria shops were essentially closed, after then CP only serviced the VIA Rail RDC's in the shops.
