Highballing on the Seaboard

A Seaboard Airline freight heads south near Alberta, VA behind a WW 1 vintage 2-8-2 in 1951. While many railroads were scrapping much newer power, these workhorses continued to perform well. The Seaboard later merged with the Atlantic Coast Line to form the Seaboard Coast Line which later became part of CSX.

Photographed by John Wallace, January, 1951.
Added to the photo archive by John Wallace, August 6, 2004.
Railroad: Seaboard Railroad.
