PNHX coal hopper 1055"Rich in Rochester on the NHN mainline" requested shots of Public Service of NH's coal hopper fleet in a post to NERAIL on June 1. I've scanned 2 shots of these cars. Their reporting marks are PNHX and they're numbered in the 1000-series. Here is PNHX 1055, photographed in June of 1993.
After posting this shot, I received a helpful email of clarification from Paul Titterton, who is the Director of Fleet Portfolio Management for GATX Rail. Paul first reminded me that technically, these cars are rotary gondolas and not hoppers. Moreover, these cars were built in 1989 by Bethlehem Steel, and are part of GATX Rail's lease fleet. These cars are among the cars that Paul manages. These cars are no longer leased by Public Service of New Hampshire; now they are deployed with a variety of other GATX customers.
