Engine 590 exits NYNH&H F-M H-44 590 will turn left momentarily for track 1 after exiting East Side Tunnel in Providence, R.I. Had the route been lined straight ahead, the train would be on a four-car stub track used to store mail, baggage and express cars. A double-slip switch, which the train is about to cross over, also led to the downtown post office, which the railroad switched out several times a day. Ca. 1954.
