Valley Line in deplorable condition

Approaching the CT River and getting closer to Haddam, tracks aren't looking to good. This is of about the 10 mile portion of the line that has yet to be rebuilt. The P&W has rebuilt the line from Middletown to Hartford. The Valley Railroad (operators of the Essex Steam Train) have rebuilt from Old Saybrook to just a little past Haddam. So from Middletown to Haddam, the track condition is poor and looks much like this. If this section is to ever be rebuilt and the connection made passable between Middletown and Haddam, then it would be physically possible for a Steam train to run from Old Saybrook to Hartford and possibly switch onto Amtrak and stop at Hartford Union Station! What a site that would be!
