"Okay to go..."In New Haven, Conn., a carman watches as AEM-7 No. 927 drifts away from Boston-bound No. 84. He put up a blue flag on the locomotive, untied the air and power cables after the engineer shut it all down. As soon as the juice jack clears, the Amtrak operator in New Haven East Tower will line the switch to allow F-40PH No. 216 to tie onto the train. The AEMs can't go to Boston yet - The catenary isn't finished. The carman will insure there's a hitch, tie on the air and 480-volt power cables, ask the engineer for a test, and if all is well, tell him "Okay to go, 173."
