Stanley Works 0-4-0 Fireless Steam Switcher

The Stanley Works, maker of Stanley Tools and headquartered in New Britian, CT, former plant switcher on display at the Connecticut Trolley Museum. Not quite a steam engine, the fireless steamer would hook up to a plant steam line and take on a charge of steam then head off to spot cars around the factory buildings until running low on steam pressure. This type of steamer was useful for occasional use where it was not needed to have a fire to keep up steam constantly. Also in the tight confines of the Stanley Works not having the smoke and soot of a coal fire was a plus.
