Abandoned Tracks at Bolton Notch,CT in Oct 1972

In this October of 1972 photograph, tracks lay dormant on the old NY NH & H Right Of Way through Bolton Notch. The tracks are not shiny in this photo, and the tracks are long gone today. This is looking from within the 1951 constructed tunnel for Rt 6 & 44 toward the Notch Road Bridge above in the distance. Scene looks similar today, but there are NO TRACKS and lots of trap rock! The tracks appear to be in pretty decent shape with exception to lots of grass.

I've heard of some stories of motorcars running this line during 1972 after the railroad had abandoned the line. It's a sad site, maybe some day the tracks can be put back in place instead of it being used as a Rail Trail!

BRING BACK THE TRACKS!

Photographed by The Bolton Historical Society, October, 1972.
