MEC refer car #1

MEC owned just two 57' mechanical reefers. I am aware of two slightly different paint schemes. #One and #Two were being scrapped at Rigby during the summer of 1997.

The following information was provided by Mike White:
H.C.Baxter Brothers,Snowflake Canning Company, had a large packing plant
with a siding at Hartland, Maine. MEC purchased these two reefers in part
to haul frozen french fries produced at this plant (also invented
here!). During off-season these cars were also used to ship christmas
trees south to New York city and elsewhere. The Hartland Plant and most
other assets of HC Baxter were sold to Birdseye in the mid 60's. The
Hartland Plant is now part of Irving Tanning.
