Amtrak Vermonter with Nice F40!

Back in the days before the Genesis locomotives dominated the rails, a fleet of EMD-Built locomotives known as F40's were Amtrak's flagship. They ran all the trains after the SDP40F's were pulled from service. This was what a typical Vermonter looked like at Palmer throughout the 90's. Since this photo was taken, most F40's were sold or scrapped, the baggage car is no longer on the train, no more cab car on the other end, and there are two ugly Genesis Locomotives at each end.

Photographed by George Contrada, 1995.
Added to the photo archive by Xian Clere, February 22, 2004.
Railroad: Amtrak.
