This 1958 built SD9 was sitting outside the Proviso Yard Diesel Engine house when this photo was taken. Proviso is the former CNW classification Yard in Bellwood, IL. It's now UP property. In the early fifties I visited the roundhouse (now gone) with my grandfather, a conductor for the Chicago Great Western. It was full of steam and friendly railroaders.
