USRA #5 - Maine Central Nov 1918 Time Table Extract

Director McAdoo's message to the passengers. Imagine what it would have been like to attempt to open and read all the mail. I suspect, however that most of it went unopened since as this Time Table was being placed in effect as the war ended "on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" as the generals in Europe had agreeded. In the years following the war, they called it Armistics Day, as my parents did when I was a kid. Today we call it Veterins Day.

Unknown photographer November 11, 1918.
Added to the photo archive by David Larrabee, December 14, 2003.
Railroad: Maine Central.
