Illinois Terminal lives!

Except as Boston & Maine 690. B&M 690 started it's life in May of 1969 as the IT 2301, with a builder number from EMD of 34883. Norfolk & Western, IT's succesor, retired the six SD39s, which they hard renumbered 2961 - 2966, in August of 1984, and returned them to their lessor in October of that year. In August of 1985, the 2961, 2962 and 2963 became BM 690, 691 and 692. Now, this leaves the 693 out. In October of 1984, it was sent (as NW 2966) to Morrison-Knudsen. In November of 1986, it became the B&M 693 and was reportedly later transfeered to MEC ownership.
