Visitor Comments about this Photo:

#5 Baldwin was the last locomotive purchased new by the East Branch & Lincoln RR. It had an ICC cab card, allowing it to not only run on EB&L woods track but also on the local B&M branch line, moving freight between Lincoln, Campton Pond, Beebe River and Livermore Falls. After the rails came out of the Lincoln Woods (going to the Edaville) it served as yard switcher in the paper mill. When I remember it in the 1950's it always had a "safety" car out from for the brakemen, full of tools and rerailing equipment. Eventually replaced by diesel, it went on static display in front of Loon Mt. ski area. Finally an exchange was made with Porter #3 of the EB&L going on static display while $5 was finally brought home to the WMCRR to be put back into operation.
