The State of Rhode Island, the City of Newport and some of its citizens gathered today along the Americas Cup Avenue section to plant over 6,000 daffodil bulbs. These will bloom in the early spring.

This is the road that runs along the Newport Secondary Track in downtown Newport. Today's planting is the first of 5 planned annual plantings. The first two years plantings will be visible from the Old Colony & Newport Railway tourist train as it enters and leaves the Newport Depot.
