NH Pumpkin Fest Dinner Train Special at Laconia

This was one "Rare Bird" Dinner Train Excursion last Friday evening that departed from the Historic Laconia Station. The sold out dinner train first went north to the Upper Messer Street Crossing, passing Jewett Brook trestle then headed south for Silver Lake Road in Lochmere (Tilton) to their boundary with New England Southern.

Riders got to experience quite the rare mileage ride as this section of the White Mountain Branch through Laconia, Belmont, and part of Tilton sees few trains. While the riders were taking in the sights along Lake Winnisquam, they also feasted on a delicious turkey dinner catered by the famous Hart's Turkey Farm in Meredith.

P&L 302 was on the north end.. (also a rare sighting), along with former B&M Budd RDC1 6148, two Lackawana MU cars, former B&M Budd RDC1 6105, and P&L 1012 on the south end.

Historic Laconia Station is home to several businesses, and the Rail Bikes Adventures operation, part of the P&L. The former Church across the way is home to the "Cake Theatre", the famous Recycled Percussion's own performance venue.

The railroad was an active participant during New Hampshire's Pumpkin Festival this past weekend. Mother Nature could not have been more cooperative with the event organizers with perfect weather.
