A Diesel Invading Princeton Jct on a PRR Local FreightPRR 8532 (SW9) leads an eastbound local freight through Princeton Jct shortly after the passage of the E44-powered freight one track closer to the eastbound platform I used as my photo location this day. Unless a railroad strings wire over every customer's siding, an electrified mainline like Pennsy's cannot be operated solely with electric power. This is how PRR was taking care of those local customers back in 1963, when lots of them still existed along what is now Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.
