Another Boomer DieselRailroad holding company Genesee & Wyoming, in keeping with its habit of moving motive power around to and from its far-flung properties, assigned two former Chicago & Illinois Midland SD9s to the Portland & Western, adding to that road's three ex-SP SD9s and two former SP SD7s.
Here's one of the former C&IM units, #1855, on duty as the McMinnville, Ore. switcher, where it served local industries as well as movements on the branch to Sheridan and Willamina. It is notable for the lack of dynamic brakes. It wears just a small P&W logo on the cab over its C&IM green.
