The White EagleThe \"Aguila Blanca\", or \"White Eagle\", was a rare bird even in Uruguay, where I photographed it leaving the terminal in Montevideo on a local run. Car #122 is lettered \"AFE\", or \"Administración de Ferrocarriles del Estado\" (Administration of State Railways).

The car is a Brill Model 60, several of which were built for Uruguay between 1934 and 1937. Several were also built for U.S. railroads. Railcars of this design were also built by American Car & Foundry as \"Motorailers\". A still-operating example of this design is California Western M-300.

The design is also similar to the Brill \"Bullet\" interurbans built in the 1930s for the Philadelphia & Western and the Fonda, Johnstown & Gloversville.

According to the Wikipedia web site, this railcar reportedly survives today, more than 80 years after its construction, along with three other Model 60s.
