Train 170 The Colonial, crossing the Connecticut River. Unofficial photographer was a coach passenger, "upgraded" to head end. Assigned seat was cab floor approaching, during and departing station stops.

Thanks for sharing these unique views of the Shore Line. Understand the "cab floor seat" comment. Crews were a little concerned about passengers unofficially being "reassigned" seats at the head end lest the "spotters" be present around the station stops..

The good old days! On the EL in the '60s, one could officially get permission from some management person to ride in the cab on EL passenger trains. My Dad did it a couple of times.
