Mechanic Falls Time Table June 30th 1919.... The Trolley. This is something like 18 rail connections each weak day. Gee you could sure get around that town in fine style a 100 years ago ! I wounder who left first, the Trolly or the MEC? Today only the old GT line aka the St. Lawrence & Atlantic, passes thru town. We seldom consider the volume of traffic back then. MEC had around about 10 passenger trains in each direction between Bangor & Portland, and that doesn't count the passenger locals & freight!
I wounder if you spent a day at Danville Jct. today how many trains you'd catch. Offhand, does anyone know what the expected level of traffic pm the backroad is today? /DL
