Power on westbound LV manifest at Sayre

Alco C420 leads a GP18 and F7 westbound into Lehigh Valley's Sayre Yard on a murky day in the late '60s. The large building in the upper right corner is LV's locomotive shop. Also visible before the shop buildings is the balloon track that was used to spin locomotives .

Love the diversity in the lashup!Behind the F7 is a 40ft PRR boxcar with the roofwalks removed.Interesting because the roofwalks were removed pre PC merger and retains somewhat pristine PRR paint. This car had the roofwalks removed inPRR shops several years before roofwalk removal was mandated and several years pre PC merger ! Im guessing the brakewheel was lowered also.I have also seen green PC 40 ft boxcars with no roofwalks and lowered brakewheel suggesting they were former PRR cars ,not NYC Does anyone know the story on PRR removing roofwalks years before it was mandated?
