POED at Ayer: 1.5 miles and 4 hours apart...

On Sunday 1/7/18, POED coasted to a stop at CPF-WL with an irregular power arrangement. Crew indicated that since C40-8 7489 has no ditchlights on its long hood, progress west would be slow (ie, limited to 20mph at grade crossings). So a request was made to wye the leader at Ayer but unfortunately at Hill Yard was coping with a minor derailment at its east end. Net: POED crew tied down. Four hours later with 7489 now facing the west, POED approached Sand Pond Rd with ~15 very cold Eimskip containers to drop at Ayer.
