Pennsylvania Coal Company Gravity Railroad: 3 of 18

This is a railroad junction in Mount Cobb, PA that never was. The view is on the slopes of Moosic Mountain looking west towards Scranton. The right-of-way ascending to the right is the Pennsylvania Coal Company Gravity Railroad, which operated between 1850 and 1885. The right-of-way on the left is the Scranton and Moosic Lake trolley line which ran between 1902 and 1926. In spite of the obvious crossing, there was never an actual junction, since the PCC was abandoned 17 years before the trolley line was even constructed.
