The T's 1776 waits at "Camp" prior to being transferred to Spencer NC for Americas 250 Locomotive Celebration, August 28-30. A little history, Ayer was home to "Camp" Stevens, a training camp for Massachusetts volunteers during the American Civil War.

Good comment on Camp Stevens on the Peterborough and Shirley, later the Greenville Branch. I read that all or some of the volunteers there landed up at the Battle of Vicksburg.
