P&L 1921 Rides Again !Last time P&L 1921 passed through the Boynton Road crossing in New Hampton was in mid-September 2019. That time, the 1921 was brought north from Meredith to Lincoln, where it was stored pretty much ever since.
Patriot Rail, the new owners of the P&L acquired the 1921 from its former private owner, and was repaired and recently returned to service. On Wednesday 9/24, the P&L Crew took the 1921 south from Lincoln to Meredith, where the once "Pride of Charletown" will serve as a spare power option in Meredith during the busy fall season. P&L 1921 has a very interesting history during its ownership with the MBTA, a lot of that can be found on You Tube.
Nice to see one more active loco in the B&M Minuteman Paint on the move ! P&L 1921 is not a true B&M engine, the GP9 was built in 1957 for the Northern Pacific. 1921 was the Burlington Northern road number, before being sold to the MBTA, which kept the number.
The 1921 would look right at home pulling or pushing a consist of the P&L's roster of former MBTA Budd RDC's, like the 1921 did 'back in the day'..
