6755 is a M1b 4-8-2 Mountain type locomotive built in 1930 for the Pennsylvania Railroad by the railroad's own Altoona Works for mainline freight service. It always amazes me at what we were able to accomplish before CAD, (Computer Aided Design), with a drafting board, paper and a mechanical lead holder.

Don't forget the slide rule, although some of us would like to!

In my first year of Engineering they taught me how to use the slide rule, thank God Texas Instruments came out with the calculator.

That massive casting of the trailing truck frame is an industrial wonder in itself. Altoona and many other railroad shops of the steam age that actually manufactured their own locomotives were manufacturing powerhouses, the size and scope of which have no equivalents today.
