Broken "trash rack"

After heavy rains in December of 2023, the "trash racks" built from old rail aside the east portal of the Hoosac Tunnel failed from massive amounts of rain, rock and debris.

I'm guessing it was the huge chunks of ice that break up in the Spring and ram their way downstream, that destroyed those grates .
