P&L 958 and 105 @ Lincoln StationTaken Black Friday morning at Lincoln Station for the Granite State Railway's Santa Express trains. Very unusual to see a 75 year old former Maine Central ALCO/GE S1 lead a much younger 1971 built EMD SW1000. The ALCO has no MU capabilities, so there were engineers in each cab for the first 60 minute train ride.
After the first successful run, it was determined that the 105 has enough power to handle the 6 coach consist, and the ALCO was taken off and put in the garage, available if needed. Four non-powered Budd RDC-1's and two Lackawanna MU cars provided various opportunities of seating arrangements.
Both of the P&L's rostered ALCO's, S1 #958 and S3 (on S1 trucks) #1186, saw some revenue service this season.
