The Needham Heights MBTA station is almost exactly 10 miles from Boston South Station as the crow flies. But an inbound T train departing Needham Heights must travel almost 1.5 miles south in the opposite direction before turning left at Needham Jct to head roughly 11 miles ENE to its destination. Here HSP-46 shoves the consist across West St as it begins its journey.
