Photo of P&L 105 at Weirs Beach
P&L 105 at Weirs Beach

The White Mountain Branch offers many clues of its mainline past, as this was once a B&M through route from Concord to Plymouth, and northwest to connections in Woodsville & Wells River. Many semaphore signal masts still stand from Concord to Plymouth in various conditions. This mast, just south of the Weirs Beach Boardwalk is in decent shape and ready for a new set of blades, while others in less visible locations have rusted with time.

P&L 105, an SW1000, built new for the New Orleans Public Belt RR in 1971, is today's power for the Meredith to Lakeport "local". In the past, this loco has stayed around Lincoln. P&L 1.0 ownership acquired the 105 in mid 2020, and it arrived on the property just after Labor Day, 2020. The 105 was repainted into the P&L corporate maroon, silver, and black in the winter of 2021.

Here was the P&L Crew shoving north onto the Boardwalk for a final stop of the day at Weirs before heading for home base in Meredith.
