P & L 9159 at Lincoln

Within this very zip code of Lincoln NH, there are five Budd RDC-1's that have Reading heritage. These cars were sold to the MBTA by SEPTA before they were retired in the late 1980s and purchased by the Hobo & Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. All five are unpowered.

This side of 9159 is marked as the front end, as this RDC-1 was once self propelled. The tail end of 9159 is equipped to lead shove moves north with a horn, lights, and bell though no cab controls. The other Reading Budds in this lineup include 9151 and 9154. Up the tracks, 9161 is in storage. In the Lincoln Shops, 9158 is getting repaired, restored, and refurbished for an eventual return to service for the first time since being retired by the MBTA.
