Last look.

On a Friday evening, shortly before leaving for the first two weeks of July at summer camp, I visited Bird's Hill. The last coach train of the day, essentially a Boston bound equipment deadhead, soon showed up. Whether this was a regular move to service the units over the weekend or the last run of the 0700 class is unknown. Either way it was my last look.

Great historic capture! The Wikipedia article on Alco's DL-109 is a fascinating read. Apparently NH got the initial batch of DL-109s built during WWII for dual purpose freight at night / passenger in the day use. NH had the largest batch of DL-109s (60) and the last unit (relegated to power plant use in the '60s) was scrapped in 1970. Also 3 DL-109s were leased to BAR to haul potatoes in Maine in the winter of '53!
