Run through power at Sand Bank Yard Scotia, NY

A trio of EMD GP 9's sit in Sand Bank yard. The middle unit is a UP GP 9B. Sand Bank yard was on the NYC mainline just west of Schenectady and the Mohawk River. It had a connection to the D&H's Mohawk yard. Today there is little trace of it left, just a single track through the area which carries Amtrak trains.

Photographed by Henry Probst-Mike LaCasse collection, January, 1977.
Added to the photo archive by Mike LaCasse, January 25, 2022.
Railroad: Conrail.
