Westbound NYC Light Engines at MP 300 in Warners, NYNYC 5950 (GP9) leads a GP7, another GP9 and 5 F-units west past MP 300 located in Warners, NY, west of Syracuse. This would appear to be the power off 2 eastbound freights being returned west to pick up more business. I do not have any record of the date of this photo, but the consist suggests a Monday morning, as the railroads serving the east coast did not originate as much westbound freight over the weekend as they did during the week and excess locomotives would accumulate and need to be returned west to be useful. either as light engines or as extra units on one of the few westbound freights early in the week.
