Eastbound Amtrak Empire Express at Amsterdam, NYFriday January 7, morning with a light snow falling, calm winds and temps just under the freezing mark. From the Riverlink Center parking garage, at 9:30 AM a Heritage painted GE P42 rumbles through Amsterdam, NY after making it's stop at the West end of town train station. It is one of those scenes repeated daily in upstate NY with the regular Empire Service. The days of these GE units are soon coming to a close as the march of progress continues. It seems like yesterday they were taking over from the F40's.
