Visitor Comments about this Photo:It's interesting that the 2-6-2 type name "Prairie" was adopted in Britain given the name was applied to the first 2-6-2 locomotives built in the US in1900 for the Chicago Burlington & Quincy, a quintessential prairie RR. Apparently GWR's 2-6-2T engines were used in suburban passenger service? New York Central and its Boston & Albany subsidiary had ~50 2-6-6T tank engines used for suburban passenger ops. But the better known B&A tank engines were the five 4-6-6T steamers that resembled NYC's iconic Hudsons. Nice capture of the tank engine's profile.
