Crossing over at Cajon.Although CTC made it unnecessary, most trains eastward out of San Bernardino, continued to be run left hand to access the easier graded (2.2%) North track between Cajon and Summit without crossing over. Having a favorable horsepower per ton and being within knuckle strength limits, the Corridor Manager decided to send this train up the steeper (3%) South track. The two-mile difference in mile posts reflects the difference between the two routes; Summit to Cajon.
