Palmer's Conrail Glory Days #1 - Eastbound Conrail Van TrainDuring April, 1996 I spent an unrecorded day at Palmer and, with a number of other railrans present and saw a very satisfying parade of trains. Older generations probably consider pre-World War II Boston & Albany days Palmer's glory days, or the New York Central years thru the 1950's or the Penn Central years thru the 1970's as the glory years, but I missed all those and the Conrail years of the 1990's provide my Palmer highlights - this is the first of an extensive set of photos over several upload sessions documenting a glorious day in Palmer
Here CR 6616 and a sister B32-8 lead a TV train east. Unfortunately none of my photos show enough of the unit to tell if they are wearing Ballast Express paint, but I somehow doubt those vans contain ballast, regardless of their paint.
