NHVT Power at Whitefield, NH

NHVT 3800 (GP38) and NHVT 669 (GP9) sit on the former Maine Central Mountain subdivision mainline west of the diamond and ball signal at Whitefield, NH. It appears the building next to the train was an NHVT office at the time; I don't know any of its history. Interestingly NHVT 3800 was built as MEC 258 to operate over these same rails. It has gone through at least 5 owners since leaving the MEC. Also note that although the official reporting marks for the New Hampsire & Vermont were 'NHVT', the sides of these locomotives wear only 'NHV'
