Unusual Visitor

Back on 5/28/21, I was in Galesburg, IL. to visit the large BNSF freight yard there. From the bridge that spans the yard, this gem was found. BN 64 end cab switcher. Not something one sees everyday.

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

A cab end switcher with C-C trucks (or maybe A-1-A trucks?) and dynamic brake blister! And what happened to the "SF" in the logo? Some sort of kit bashed unit! Perhaps one of a kind! Nice catch!

So according to the BNSF roster shown at thedieselshopus.com, "BN 54" is a TEBC6 slug (SD38 1905 is the mother) rebuilt from a CB&Q SD-9 using an SW14 cab.

Ex-BNSF 254 < BNSF 1815 < BNSF/BN 6293 < BN 6163 CB&Q SD9 361 originally built in September 1955.
