Before the merger, Yermo, CA was the yard for Southern California. The YRLA was a through manifest, built at Yermo and blocked for set outs to feed locals, at usually three small yards, between Riverside and East L.A. After arriving at East Yard the head cars could be immediately forwarded to L.A. Junction Railway. What was left behind were cars to be delivered locally by industry switching jobs. Those were blocked for each job in the sequence of their on duty times.
