This railfan hangout is known as Basta. The name came from the point nearby, where UP's Anahiem Branch once crossed the ATSF mainline. The abandoned branch was the remains of an attempt to create an LA- San Diego line, foiled by high land prices. The former right of way makes a comfortable place from which to view this busy line.
