Through South Providence Yards On The Fly

Even if you hated the Turbo Train, you could not beat the view from the rear dome. We're seeing the green shimmering in the turbo exhaust and the fastest part of the ride is to come through southern Rhode Island. You could plainly see the mileposts and I clocked it at one mile in 30 seconds for a few miles An old Alco switcher is still on duty in the yard and the ground man seems unfazed by the Turbo's passage.

I rode it at night once from new haven to Boston in the mid seventies. Sat up front. It was loud and we rocked and rolled.
