Back when Guilford ran long distance symbol freightsIn the Pan Am era, the symbol freights that cover the longest distance are EDPO/POED which run about 175 miles. Other symbols cover only 100-125 miles (eg, EDRJ, AYPO). But in the Guilford era, symbols routinely covered much great distances. For example, here comes GRS EDNM, about to cross Sandy Pond Rd in Ayer, which will run about 325 miles from E Deerfield to Northern Maine Jct near Bangor. Of course, when GRS operated the D&H in the mid '80s, POPY/PYPO would cover 700 miles or so...
