Cajon Summit.

A train, behind mixed EMD power passes slowly through Summit Cut on the North Track. (Comparatively easier grades, between Cajon and Summit, made this the preferred routing for eastbound trains.)With the signals at Summit in sight, the Engineer is clear as to what comes next.

Photographed by Ken Patton, April, 1980.
