A pair of Boston & Maine RDCs now working for the MBTA speed outbound to Lowell through Somerville, MA, in a January 1978 snowfall. The end of the era of self-propelled Budds on the B&M was fast approaching. By the end of the winter, following the Blizzard of 1978 that knocked many out of action, most would be pushed and pulled by GP7s.
