Back Bay, before the tunnel

An Amtrak corridor train behind a pair of E8s accelerates away from the stop at Back Bay station, through the open cut that was apparently being used by some locals as a trash dump. This area was roofed over during the Southwest Corridor project.

Visitor Comments about this Photo:

The 1990 Amtrak #66 - MBTA #906 derailment/crash happened just beyond the platform on the curve in the turn, no?. The Night Owl was going ~75 mph or more than twice the permitted speed here.
